Farmer Bob

Farmer Bob is your personal NPC farmhand who takes care of the dirty work — planting, watering, harvesting, fertilizing, composting, and even caring for animals. Once hired, Bob operates within a defined farm zone and runs your daily farming routine automatically.

How to Hire and Place Your Farmer

  1. Open the Menu
Use the Farmer Bob icon on your HUD (bottom left or top right), or type /farmerbob or /fb in chat.
  2. Select a Farm Size
Choose Small, Medium, or Large. Each tier supports more planters, animals, and storage containers.
  3. Confirm the Hire
After choosing your tier, you’ll receive a sleeping bag with a custom potato sack skin. Place this bag on a foundation to define the center of your farm zone.
  4. Check the Work Zone
A green dome will appear to show Bob’s work area. Any planters, composters, boxes, water barrels, or animals inside this zone will be included. The dome disappears after 10 minutes, but you can reveal it again using the Move > Place feature.

Farm Setup Requirements

Farmer Bob only interacts with items tagged using the official State of Flux kits. Use /kit to claim the required boxes.

  • Seeds Box – Holds seeds or clones for planting. Harvested seeds are also returned here.
  • Crops Box – Stores harvested plants after each farming cycle.
  • Fertiliser Box – Holds fertilizer, worms, and grubs. Automatically collects horse dung if nearby.
  • Composter – Used for converting compost materials.
  • Water Barrel or Tank – Must be placed close by for watering.
  • Animal Housing – Includes chicken coops and horse troughs.

Animal Tasks

Bob can also manage nearby animals:

  • Chickens – Collects eggs, fills water, and pets them daily.
  • Horses – Feeds them and automatically collects dung to store in the fertilizer box.

Farming Routine

Bob starts work automatically each day between 9:00 and 10:00 AM. He moves around completing tasks in order: harvesting, planting, watering, fertilizing, feeding animals, and then rests until the next cycle.

Farm Tools and Controls

  • View planters, storage, and animal structures inside your farm zone
  • Use /rescanfarm if new objects aren’t appearing
  • Use the Move button to remove and reposition Bob and the farm center
  • Use Upgrade to expand your farm to the next size tier

Preferences and Automation Settings

In the Preferences tab, you can control exactly how your farmer behaves:

  • Genetics – Choose a preferred gene string (GGYYYY, GGGYYY, GGGGYY)
  • Max Saturation – Set the watering threshold to 60%, 80%, or 100%
  • Crop Category – Select from Flower, Vegetable, or Berry
  • Specific Plant Type – Choose a single crop (e.g., Corn, Pumpkin, Blue Berry)

If no specific selection is made, Bob will pick the best crop based on nearby animal needs or seed availability.
